Marmic Acquires 4 New Fire Protection Companies in First Quarter of 2023

Joplin, MO – Marmic Fire & Safety®, an HGGC company, welcomed 4 new fire protection companies serving Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas, and Tennessee to its family.  At each location, Marmic will broaden the number of services for customers who may have limited options for a fire alarm or fire sprinkler provider.

“We are thrilled to see so many companies joining Marmic based on common values of people first/team first and superior customer experience.  These acquisitions underpin our strategic growth in areas where there is a need for a comprehensive life safety provider. We’re proud to have the ability to take care of all the fire protection equipment needs of our customers,” said Greg Bochicchio, CEO of Marmic Fire & Safety®.

Paragould, AR – Having worked as a volunteer firefighter, Bill Tripp started Absolute Fire Protection with his wife Judith in 1997 to protect their community. They both received their fire extinguisher licenses and covered Paragould, AR, a town of about 30,000, later expanding their team to assist in the growing market.

For Judith Tripp, making the decision to bring in Marmic was easy as she explained, “We chose Marmic because of our working relationship in the past. We felt comfortable with them.  It seemed like an easy decision.”

West Memphis, Arkansas – Marmic welcomed West Memphis Fire Extinguisher to its family.  James Houston started the company 44 years ago, providing fire extinguisher service to both West Memphis, AR and Memphis, TN.  He and his wife Judith, both licensed on fire extinguishers, along with their employees kept the communities surrounding their city safe.

James Houston stated, “One of our main concerns when we decided to sell our business and retire was the level and quality of service that our customers would receive.  After dealing with the Marmic Fire and Safety team we felt confident that our customers would receive the level of service that we have strived for in our 38 years of being in business.”

Olathe, KS – Kansas City Fire & Security has also joined Marmic.  Brothers Alan and Tony Barrero, owners of KCFS, started their company in 2001 in Tony’s home. Since then and after opening a new location, they have been offering high-quality life safety/fire alarm systems, fire detection and suppression systems, CCTV systems, and card access control systems to the Kansas City metro area. We are enthusiastic to bring on their entire knowledgeable team that has brought KCFS owners so much pride. The addition of KCFS strengthens Marmic’s presence within the Kansas City market.

Alan Barrero, co-owner of KCFS, elaborated saying, “The match we found with Marmic – they had a need that we could fill, and we could help them grow in this area.  They could help us take our employees to the next level.  We needed the support Marmic could bring to our customers and our employees and the company as a whole.”

Mackinaw, IL – 13 years ago, Fred and Emily Lawrence started F.L. Sons Fire Equipment Company out of their home in Mackinaw, IL, and then eventually expanded their business to a new site.  Within Central Illinois, they built a trusted presence among their neighbors and employees with fire extinguisher and kitchen system safety.  Today, we are pleased to announce they are entrusting their legacy to Marmic.

“We chose Marmic for the stability it provides for us and our employees, having a corporation to help us out with training, and having someone to help with technical support. We’ve built it as far as we can, and now it’s ready for that next step,” said Fred Lawrence III, owner of F.L. Sons.  Emily Lawrence continued, “I think Marmic is a great fit for all the reasons he said and especially for the family-oriented thing.  I think that was our biggest thing at first, and having those core values…and how Marmic started as a family as well.”
