Charles and Mary Lou Teeter start Joplin Fire Protection

Starting as a family business, Joplin Fire Protection focused on excellent customer service. Charles and Mary Lou knew their customers by name and passed along their business values to their children and employees, garnering a reputation of friendly, honest service.

Mickey Teeter joins Joplin Fire Protection

Micky Teeter, the son of Charles and Mary Lou, joined the business and later took the reigns along side his wife Martha.  The operation continued prospering predominantly among Joplin, MO businesses.

Michael Teeter joins the team full time

Martha and Mickey’s son Michael Teeter joined the business and, over the course of the 90s and early 2000s, rose from a fire extinguisher technician in the warehouse to one in the field.  Later, the experiences gained on the front line of fire protection would assist him in management of  the business.

Mickey and Martha Teeter form Marmic Fire & Safety

Mickey and Martha Teeter officially take over and create Marmic from their names. Joplin Fire Protection became Marmic to form a brand for customers outside of Joplin, MO metro. Over subsequent years, they began adding other services besides fire extinguishers such as fire alarms and sprinklers.

Michael and team bring on multiple locations

 Michael Teeter became President and CEO, subsequently making incredible strides in growing Marmic to multiple states. The efforts materialized into a National Accounts team that could bring consistent service to customers with locations spanning across the nation.  For the remainder of the 2010s, the Marmic team would expand from 100 to over 400 employees.

Michael Teeter becomes Chairman, Greg Bochicchio becomes CEO.

Michael Teeter becomes Chairman of the Board to focus his efforts on strategic partnerships.  Michael’s previous role as CEO is filled by Greg Bochicchio whose experience in organizational growth lays a foundation for a new era in Marmic’s development.

Marmic is a leading fire protection company boasting over 1,000 employees in 50 locations (and growing) as well as numerous affiliate partners across the country. The original, customer-focused values of Charles Teeter are as strong today as they were over 70 years ago.  As the years advance, Marmic continues its mission to protect the communities it serves.

Michael is fire protection born and bred. His family started Marmic originally as Joplin Fire Protection in 1951. He became Marmic’s leader in 2011 and since then has grown the company from just under 100 to nearly 700 employees across the nation as of 2021. He has served as CEO until 2022 when he became the company’s Chairman.
